MICK FANNING SOFTBOARDS WINT GOOD DESIGN AWARD
Mick Fanning Softboards wint de felbegeerde Australische Good Design Award voor design excellence.
De winnaars van de Australische Good Design Awards zijn bekendgemaakt op de 61ste jaarlijkse Good Design Award ceremonie. Deze prijs is de hoogste eer die je kunt krijgen voor design en innovatie in het land.
Mick Fanning Softboard heeft de prestigieuze Good Design Award Accolade in de Product Design categorie gewonnen. Deze prijs hebben ze mogen ontvangen voor hun buitengewone design en innovatie.
De jaarlijkse Good Design Awards zijn de meest prestigieuze internationale awards voor design en innovatie. De geschiedenis van deze award gaat terug tot 1958. Deze uitreiking geeft aandacht aan de beste nieuwe producten en services op de Australische markt, bijzondere bouwkundige ontwerpen, mode, digitale en communicatie ontwerpen. Daarnaast belonen ze opkomende onderwerpen zoals design strategie, sociale impact en design entrepreneurship.
The Good Design Awards jury heeft meerdere dagen alle aanmeldingen geëvalueerd met behulp van strikte design criteria. De criteria bestaan uit ‘good design’, ‘design innovation’ en ‘design impact’. Projecten die de Good Design Award willen ontvangen, moeten op alle vlakken excellente prestaties leveren en de jury overtuigen.
Mr. Brandon Gien, CEO van de Good Design Australia zei; “Receiving a Good Design Award at this level is a significant achievement given the very high calibre of entries received this year.”
“Australia’s Good Design Award is more than a symbol of design excellence, it represents the hard work and dedication towards an innovative outcome that will ultimately improve our quality of life. These projects showcase the brilliance of design and the potential it has to improve our world,” zei Dr. Gien.
De Good Design Awards jury huldigde Mick Fanning Softboard met de woorden;“ Elegant, simple and understated design with high quality materials and fit for purpose manufacturing. The true innovation in this board design lies with the construction techniques and material selection that has resulted in a high performance, professional surfboard normally associated with traditional hardboards. The design team has cracked the design code that allows softboards to be accepted by what is a fairly traditional surfing industry. The impact of this will open up the surfing industry to a much wider market. Every aspect of this product has been really well designed – form, function, material selection, aesthetics, design for manufacture – all coming together to create an excellent product with mass market appeal. Well done.”

De Good Design Awards heeft een record aan aanmeldingen gehad dit jaar. Er waren bijna 700 design projecten die mee deden in de race om de International Design Awards van dit jaar.
