Nieuwe generatie domineert de tweede ronde van de Hurley Pro
Gisteren is de tweede ronde gesurft van de Hurley Pro in mooie golven van ongeveer 1 meter. Deze ronde waren het vooral de ‘jonge honden’ die hun kunsten lieten zien.
Man van de dag was misschien toch wel Jadson Andre want nadat hij een 8.17 (van de 10) scoorde wist hij op zijn volgende golf een 9.43 (van de 10) te scoren.
“The last few years I’ve been working on my carves and the waves I learned how to surf on, the only thing you can do is big airs on the beach breaks,” vertelt de man van de dag “It’s the first thing I learned how to do and I know how to do them well. When the wind’s onshore like that it’s way easier to do airs, I saw Gabriel (Medina) do the same.”
“In the morning, with the offshores, it’s not as easy to do the airs, we’ll see what happens, you can’t just think about the airs, you have to think about what’s going to be the best turn to do at that time. Hopefully I can keep going.”
Ook John John Florence, die voor het eerst meedoet aan de ASP tour als lid van de top 34, liet zijn kunsten zien. En met een perfecte 17.53 (van de 20) wist hij zijn tegenstander Alejo Muniz uit te schakelen. En plaatste zichzelf zo in de derde ronde.
“I’m really excited,” vertelt John John “Alejo (Muniz) is one of my good friends and I’m bummed for him, but I’m super stoked to make it. I was actually going to go left on that one wave because Alejo had priority and then he didn’t get into it so I got that good right. Hopefully I can make some heats, Lowers is such a fun wave.”
