White wint X Games Tignes Slopestyle

Na het winnen van de Men’s Snowboard Superpipe heeft Shaun White ook de Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle op zijn naam geschreven tijdens de Winter X Games in Tignes.

Tijdens zijn winnende run – met een score van 97 – zette hij drie double corks achter elkaar: een switch double cork 1080 en twee double cork 1260s.

“These guys have been pushing the limits of what’s possible in the Slopestyle course and they put the gauntlet in front of me,” zei White. “I think I’ve finally caught up and I’m happy to be back.”

Mark McMorris, die tijdens de Winter X Games in Aspen de Slopestyle en Big Air won, behaalde de tweede plaats met een score van 90 en een run waarin hij een frntside cab 1080 en een frontside double cork 1080 neerzette. Eric Willet werd derde met een score van 88 en een run met daarin twee doube cork 1080s.

“It’s been a good contest. The weather’s nice, the jumps are big, the rails are heavier than last year. Obviously, Shaun is back,” zei McMorris. “Back in black. I’m just going to have to come back and beat him next year.” 

Willett behaalde zijn tweede bronze plak op rij tijdens de Winter X Tignes. “That was an emotional rollercoaster,” zei hij. “I’m happy to make the podium, but I think one of the Norwegians (Ståle Sandbech or Aleksander Oestreng) should have been in my place — they both rode so well. But I’m stoked I was able to keep my podium streak here.”
